The God of Small Things

The God of Small Things
Arundhati, Roy

The God of Small Things is a novel that a very different, but similar themes to Indiana Jones, feminism. For example, Chacko views Margaret Kochamma as his "trophy wife." It is true that Margaret Kochamma is viewed as nothing but an object, which creates the idea that women are not equal to men. In contrast, Margaret Kochamma can be seen as a good wife and woman that Chacko holds to a high regard. Secondly, Ammu does not conform to the feminist view. She tells Rahel and Estha that they do not need their father because she takes the role of both parents for them, which implies that she is equal to men in this situation.
